Situated in the Kwazulu-Natal Drakensberg, halfway between Johannesburg and Durban, Montusi is the only upmarket destination in the area with a full and uninterrupted view of the Drakensberg's most famous part, the Amphitheatre escarpment. Our guests enjoy this spectacular scenery in the comfort of their private individual garden suites.

Montusi consists of a large and beautifully thatched main building (with reception, dining room, terrace, bar, lounge and massage room) and 14 spacious, tastefully decorated, individual garden suites which are among the most luxurious in the Drakensberg.

The one and two-bedroomed suites each have a lounge with a gas Jetmaster fireplace, TV, mini fridge and tea and coffee making facilities. The bathrooms have under-floor heating. They are spaced well apart and guests can admire magnificent views of The Amphitheatre and the sandstone hills of the Little Berg from their bedroom, lounge or private patio. The marvellous cuisine is enjoyed in the thatched dining room or outdoor boma.

We have 4 six-sleeper self-catering cottages, which have three bedrooms, three bathrooms (two of which are en-suite with a total of two showers and two baths per chalet), open plan living room/kitchen and a patio. Each cottage has limited DSTV, under-floor heating and a fireplace, and is fully and luxuriously fitted with fridge/freezer, dishwasher, electric stove/oven, microwave, cutlery, crockery and linen.
Guests wishing to smoke are requested to please do so on the patio.  The maximum number of people per six-sleeper cottage (including children) is six.  Please bring your own swimming towels, torch and umbrella.  The units are serviced daily, but dishes are only washed on day of departure.  Unfortunately we are unable to accommodate self-caterers in the lodge dining room for breakfast or dinner.

Rates

Children under 2 years sharing with parents stay free.
2 - 12 years sharing with parents pay 50% rate.
Maximum of 2 children per room.

Please note: Children are welcome at Montusi by arrangement. Meal times for guests with children from 08h00 to 09h00 a.m. (breakfast) and from 18h30 to 19h30 (dinner) only. This gives the other guests the opportunity to dine without the pitter-patter of little feet. No unaccompanied children in the main building and at the pool at any time.

Rates include applicable government taxes and tourism levies.
We regret we cannot accommodate guests’ pets.
